We are a small, independent team of AI practitioners who test tools the way real users do — not the way vendor marketing teams want you to see them.
Our mission is simple: cut through hype, find tools that actually work, and save you time and money. Every review we publish is based on hands-on testing with real tasks, real prompts, and real output quality checks.
Why We Started
The AI tools market exploded in 2023–2024, and with it came a flood of superficial "best of" lists written by people who had never opened the tools they were ranking. We got tired of clicking through roundups that clearly copied feature tables from press releases, so we built AI Tool Picks to do it differently: actually install every tool, run the same real-world tasks across all competitors, and document what really happens — not what the sales page promises.
We launched in early 2025 and have since published detailed, hands-on reviews covering six major categories: AI writing assistants, AI coding tools, AI video generators, AI SEO software, AI productivity apps, and AI image creators. Every category gets the same treatment — no shortcuts.

AI Tool Picks Team is a small, independent editorial team focused on hands-on AI tool testing. We are not a vendor, not a marketing department, and not a sponsored ranking machine — just practitioners who actually install and run each tool before we write a word about it.
Our background is in software development, content marketing, and independent publishing. We have spent years building websites, running ad campaigns, managing SEO for real businesses, and testing dozens of AI tools in production workflows. That practical experience is what shapes our reviews — we ask the questions that matter to someone who actually needs to ship work, not just browse features.
How We Test
- Install and use each tool for at least two weeks — no screenshot-based reviews from a demo account
- Test with identical prompts across competitors — same inputs, same criteria, fair comparison every time
- Evaluate output quality, speed, pricing, and support — four dimensions, weighted equally
- Disclose affiliate relationships and only recommend tools we believe in — if we would not pay for it ourselves, we will not tell you to
- Re-test quarterly — AI tools change fast; our reviews are updated when products ship meaningful updates
